Fuelling your day out

New to London and want to plan a day out where you can see some of the top sights? Sit back and relax, we've sorted it for you!

All of our restaurants and cafés are just a short walk to some of the biggest London attractions, so to keep your energy high throughout the day we've included some of our favourite spots to grab a bite to eat (and a cheeky tipple) on campus, so you don't have to go far for a tasty meal.

8:30am – breakfast at Beaver's Brew 🥐

📍Ground floor of the Marshall Building, 44 Lincoln's Inn Fields, WC2A 2ES

Start your day sustainably at our plastic-free café, Beaver's Brew. Whether you're fancying a piping hot coffee, icy smoothie or a refreshing freshly squeezed juice, Beaver's Brew has got you covered. Not to mention the selection of pastries, breakfast rolls and light breakfast options to choose from.

Looking for more plant-based dishes? Instead, head to The Shaw Café just around the corner in the Cheng Kin Ku building for freshly prepared vegan and veggie breakfast options. We'd recommend checking out the breakfast fruit pots that come in a range of different flavours like raspberry and chia, kiwi and coconut and loads more delicious combos.

9:30am – explore the British Museum 🗿

📍Great Russell Street, WC1B 3DG

A short 10-minute walk from Beaver's Brew will bring you to the British Museum where you can immerse yourself in two million years of human history and culture – for free! Home to art and artifacts from around the world, including the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin marbles, this is the perfect time to cross this must-visit museum off your London bucket list.

We'd suggest allocating 1.5 – 2 hours for this visit, and don't forget to book your time slot in advance.

12:00pm – lunch at The Garrick 🍛

📍Columbia House, Houghton Street, WC2B 4RR

Head back towards the LSE campus for lunch at The Garrick. If you're exploring the city with friends, this is the perfect spot to stop off for a bite to eat as it offers a huge variety of dishes across two floors.

On the ground floor you can find classic sandwiches, salads and snacks as well as freshly prepared pizza (with amazing cheese pulls!), or head down to the basement to find an in-house Kimiko counter serving up Japanese staples like katsu curry and street-food inspired dishes made fresh every day.

1:30pm – visit the London Eye 🎡

After lunch, take a short 20-minute stroll to the London Eye to see panoramic views of the city from the world's tallest cantilevered observation wheel.

A standard ticket costs £29 per person, but as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK, this is a must-try if you haven't already.

3:00pm – take a boat to the Tower of London 🏰

From the London Eye, take the Thames Clipper boat service to the Tower of London so you can see even more iconic London spots along the way.

This historic fortress is a well-known World Heritage Site where you have the chance to get up close to the Crown Jewels and meet the famous tower ravens.

5:00pm – dinner at the Fourth Floor Restaurant 🍽️

With a jam-packed day of sight-seeing you're bound to have worked up an appetite. Back on campus, our Fourth Floor Restaurant is open until 6:30pm so you'll have plenty of time to dine in and get your fill.

Here you'll find a diverse menu of international dishes, home comforts and vegetarian options so there'll be plenty to choose from.

And if you're in the mood for an evening tipple...

6:30pm – Grab a drink at George IV 🍺

Just around the corner from the Fourth Floor Restaurant is our traditional Victorian English pub where you can get your hands on a nice cold cask ale or glass of wine.

Not a fan of those? There's also a range of spirits and cocktails to choose from, all to be enjoyed with some traditional bar snacks – the perfect place to unwind.
