Good news, LSE! For the sixth year in a row, we have been awarded the prestigious Three Star Food Made Good Sustainability Award by the Sustainable Restaurant Association. That's the top award for sustainability – and it's all about how we're making choices that are good for people and the planet.
We're so proud of our teams and everyone behind the scenes who helped us achieve this - it wouldn't be possible without you!
Here's how we smashed it this year...
🌱 Sourcing
We know that where our food comes from matters, and we're serious about making sure it's high-quality, fresh and sustainably sourced. How are we doing it?
- Stocking Fairtrade products: our bananas, chocolate, coffee, tea, cocoa and sugar are all Fairtrade, meaning the farmers and communities behind them get fair pay and support.
- Creating plant-powered menus: we've added more vegetarian and vegan options to our offering, not to mention our dedicated veggie/vegan café!
- Sustainable seafood: all of our fish and seafood is caught and farmed in a way that protects oceans and marine life.
👥 Society
We don't just focus on the dish – we care about the people eating it, making it and the community around us.
- Healthier choices: our menus are designed with your health and wellbeing in mind, making sure you don't have to choose between nutrition and flavour.
- Local love: we work with local suppliers, like Foodari, to source fresh ingredients while keeping our carbon footprint low.
- Giving back: from donating to good causes to sharing skills, we're always looking for ways to support our local community.
- Staff wellbeing: promoting good working condition and inclusivity is at the heart of what we do, making sure our teams get the support they need and deserve.
🌍 Environment
We're always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact, from fighting food waste to recycling.
- No food waste: using technology, like AI to sort food waste, we are able to reduce plate waste and ingredients that would otherwise be thrown away.
- Reduce, reuse, recycle: whether it's recycling our food waste into energy or reducing the use of single plastics through our reusable cup scheme, we're always finding better ways to manage what we throw away.
